Frederick "Ranny" Grinnell, '68

Frederick Ransom Grinnell, a lifelong Rowayton, CT resident, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Stamford Hospital, Stamford, CT. Born August 29, 1943 in Little Rock, AR, he was the son of the late Frederick Grinnell and the late Jane Fuller Dwiggins. He was 60.
Mr. Grinnell was a graduate of Windham College in Vermont earning a Bachelors Degree in Economics. He received graduate degrees in special education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Mr. Grinnell most recently taught Special Education at Trumbull High School. He also taught inner city Special Education to children in New York City for several years. He has 30 plus years of teaching in many private schools including The Grove School in Madison, CT, The Foundation School and two years in Australia. He was also active in many Christian and charity organizations.
He is survived by his step-father, Will Dwiggins of Rowayton, CT; 2 sisters, Anne Adams of Basalt, CO and Pam Tagliarini of Madison, CT. He is also survived by 2 nephews, Langdon Adams of Colorado and Daniel Tagliarini of Madison, CT.
A Memorial Service will be held at United Church of Raowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton, CT on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 3:00 PM. A private family burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven, MA.
