James E. Machleid, '69

      SPOFFORD, N.H. James "Jeep" Eugene Machleid, born Aug. 31, 1945, passed away peacefully at home at Spofford Lake on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, surrounded by dear friends and caregivers who stayed by his side for the better of two months.

Predeceased by parents, James Arthur and Josehine Acuff Machleid, Jim built his own home from the ground up, overlooking his beloved lake, enjoying friends, pyrotechnics, welding, electronics, cooking and baking, dogs, boats, flowers, birds and vintage Mercedes.

He attended Franconia College and received a psychology degree from VT's Windham College and a Masters in Special Ed from the University of Hartford.

He taught at the Winston Prouty School for Child Development, served as a Chesterfield/ Westmoreland/Spofford selectman and was a sales mgr./rep. for Vermont and New Hampshire printing firms.

Jim was frugal with everything but his knowledge, time and heart. He will be missed.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an educational institution or an animal shelter of your choice in his memory.
