Donald Everett Precourt

WESTMINSTER, VT- Donald Everett Precourt Sr., 79 of Westminster West, Vt. died on March 5, 2011 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, N.H., after a very long illness.
He was born on June 2, 1931 in Bronx, N.Y., son of Frank and Helen Precourt and his stepmother Mariam Precourt.
Don started and ran his own business (Precout Electric) in Tenafly, N.J. There is where he married his wife, Grace Sands of Englewood, N.J. Donald was a charter member of the Elks club in Tenafly, N.J. for years. Don served on the board of Directors of Parks Place for several years and also served in the Army National Guard in N.J.
In the early 1960's he moved his family to Vermont which he loved so much. He had several hobbies, the most important being hunting and he was a collector of guns. Donald worked at Windham College for a good part of his life [as Director of Physica Plant], but then he returned to his own business with his two sons.
Donald is survived by his wife and friend, Grace, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 3, 2011; his four children Susan Burke of Westminster, Donald Jr. of Westminster West, Gail Precourt Smidutz of Rockingham and Ronald of North Walpole, New Hampshire; two brothers Robert Precourt of N.C. and Hank Precourt of Massachusetts; a sister Marianne Precourt of Yonkers, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frank.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the FENTON & HENNESSEY FUNERAL HOME with a memorial service to follow.
