WESTMINSTER WEST -- Genarro (Jerry) Prozzo of Westminster West, 77, an artist, died of lung cancer, in his home, on Friday, May 5, 2006, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Cyndy Szekeres Prozzo, his sons, Marco and Chris and their wives, Shaun and Andrea; grandchildren, Nina and Emmett; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Moving from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1974, he maintained a studio in his home and also taught art at Vermont College of the Arts. [ He taught art at Windham College from 1976-78.] He was known for his etchings and small sculptures. He inspired, cajoled and encouraged aspiring artists of all ages.
During his last days he continued his work for an exhibit to be held at Gallery in the Woods in Brattleboro from July 7 to August 29. He will be there in spirit to celebrate his humor and whimsy.
Services will be private. Donations in his name may be given to Hospice of Springfield.
